Police search for man who stole hundreds from Unity and Faith Christian Church in Highland Park

Pastors believe they know man who robbed Highland Park church

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – Police are on the lookout for a man who stole hundreds of dollars from a small church in Highland Park.

Pastors at Unity and Faith Christian Church in Highland Park believe they know the man who robbed the church as he also attended this week's Sunday service.

Pastor Raynard J. Sims says the man was young and did not want to talk much.  On Sunday night, parishioners think that visitor came back.

The man got away with several hundred dollars, money the pastor says is essential to his congregation.

"Everything that we've lost can be replaced," said Pastor Sims.  "But what value, what amount of money can you place on one soul?  Yes, we get frustrated.  Yes, we get angry, but we dare sin not and leave this area."

It had to be a little guy, because the glass block windows are slender.  Police say the criminal broke into the pastor's office and stole the petty cash collected to feed the hungry and clothe the poor.

Pastor Sims says stealing from a house of God is like stealing from God's own hand.  He adds that right, now there is a soul on the loose in need of prayer and forgiveness.

"We will forgive, but God forbid it he's caught in this facility while we are here because he will get the Hell beatin' out of him and then we'll pray about that later," said Pastor Raynard J. Sims.
