Sketch released of suspect who killed Redford Township man in Detroit

61-year-old Redford Township man shot, killed Jan. 21 outside friend's Detroit home

DETROIT – Crime Stoppers has released a sketch and description of a suspect who shot and killed a Redford Township man Jan. 21 in the Woodbridge Historic District in Detroit.

Christopher Best, 61, was killed when he went to a home in the 4500 block of Avery Street between Forest Avenue and Lysander Street. He was there to to pay his friend $1,000 for doing some contractual work at his home.

Read back: Man robbed, killed outside friend's house

When Best arrived, an unknown man armed with a long gun fired multiple shots at him, killing him. The gunman robbed Best of an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in a sport utility vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black man who is 23 or 24 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build, dark complexion and scars on both sides of his face. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and had a 5 o'clock shadow.

Best lived in the 19000 block of Brady Street near Vassar Street in Redford Township. He was an accomplished musician and a foster parent to many.
