St. Clair Shores mother accused of son's dismemberment

59-year-old mother accused of 32-year-old son's dismemberment, then ditching body parts in St. Clair County

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Macomb County mother Donna Scrivo was quiet Monday as she made her way into court.

She appeared distraught as she was charged with dismemberment and removal of a body. That body is her son, 32-year-old Ramsay Scrivo.

Ramsay's remains were found Thursday in five different bags scattered along roads in China Township, St. Clair County. That happened just days after Donna Scrivo had filed a missing persons report for her son. She said he had simply vanished.

"At this point all we can prove is the dead body's disinterment, mutilation and the removing of a dead body without medical examiner's permission. That's what we can prove at this point," said St. Clair Shores police.

There are no murder charges but investigators believe the mother not only killed her son but she later cut up his body and severed his head.

Donna Scrivo, who will turn 59 years old on Tuesday, moved in with her son last year after a fire at her home. Police were familiar with the family and their troubles.

According to documents obtained by the Local 4 Defenders, Donna Scrivo had been trying to take control of Ramsay's mental health issues. She filed paperwork with the court last year asking for him to be committed to a hospital. She also asked to be appointed his guardian.
