Police say there's been a rash of tire, rim thefts in city

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Two people who were taken into custody by Southfield police early Wednesday morning are being questioned in connection with a recent rash of tire and rim thefts.

Police said they got a call from residents in an apartment complex near the Lodge Freeway and 10 Mile that they had heard loud noises before seeing a black truck speed off.

A Chrysler 300 was found up on bricks with its tires missing.

Police said they quickly communicated a description of the truck out and officers spotted it nearby on the Lodge. When it was pulled over, police said they found tires, rims and a jack inside.

Police said they are investigating at least 10 thefts from the past week.
