WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. - The Wayne County Sheriff's Department arrested a mother after deputies pulled her over on suspicion of drunk driving.

Early Thursday morning, the woman was pulled over at Inkster Road and Cherry Hill Road, which is on the border of three cities: Garden City, Inkster and Dearborn Heights.

She was going 60 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. Her vehicle headlights were not shining.

The woman's 7 and 15-year-old daughters were passengers in the car.

After failing a field sobriety test, the woman blew a .126 on a breathalyzer test.

The children were turned over to their grandmother.

Their mother was arrested and faces charges of operating while intoxicated and child endangerment. She could be arraigned as early as this weekend.

Hundreds of law enforcement officers around Michigan are in the midst of holiday drunk driving patrols, funded by a State of Michigan grant.
