WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A Dearborn man, who the Wayne County Sheriff's Office says has a bad habit of writing bad checks, was charged with six felony counts on Monday.
Edwin Verdung, 26, was charged with three counts of larceny; two counts of writing a check with non-sufficient funds and one count of writing a check that has no account.

February, the owner of Templin Auto Sales in Ecorse filed a complaint with the sheriff, saying Verdung paid for a 2011 Ford Fusion with a check for $9,500. The check was later returned for non-sufficient funds.
Officers discovered Verdung wrote a check for $3,300 as a security deposit to lease a garage in Wayne. The property owner told police the account was inactive and the check was returned.
Police say Verdung also wrote a bad check in the amount of $8,000 as a down payment for a BMW. When he was arrested, police say Verdung was found with a truck reported stolen from Minnesota.
He was arraignment in district court and his cash bond was set at $100,000. Verdung currently sits in a Wayne County jail.
"This was good police work by several of our officers," said Wayne County Sheriff Benny N. Napoleon. With the cooperation of the victims, we were able to take a career criminal off the streets."
If found guilty, the larceny charges alone carry a sentence of five years in prison and or a $10,000 fine. Verdung could also receive up to two years in prison for the bad check charges.
