Workout featured on "The Biggest Loser" found in Metro Detroit

Local 4's Lauren Sanders introduces us to ViPR fitness

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – A new workout technique featured on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" can now be found in metro Detroit.

The ViPR technique and tool engages every part of the body.  ViPR stands for vitality, performance and reconditioning.  Fitness experts say we benefit the most from workouts that utilize multiple muscles at once.  Personal trainer and kickboxing champion Omar Akl says that is exactly what the ViPR can do.

"ViPR is an up-to-date workout.  It's head to toe.  That means physically and mentally."

The ViPR workout features hundreds of regressive and progressive moves.  Regressive moves work all of your muscles, but are less advanced than progressive high energy moves that elevate your heart rate and tax muscles.  All of the moves are fluid and mimic other common body motions typically found in daily routines.

"ViPR targets the core, inner thighs, gluts, hamstrings, quadriceps; all of the middle area that every athlete needs.  And the good thing about ViPR is you can't lose focus.  You have to stay focused 100%. It's not like going on the treadmill and talking on the phone," says Akl.

Always contact your physician before starting any work out program, including ViPR fitness.
