Michigan's Peter Vanderkaay earns bronze medal in 400 freeystyle

LONDON - Saturday was an incredible day with lots of excitement! It was the first day of competition and we all ventured to the Olympic Park with our PVK shirts. People everywhere commented on them.....wanted to know what city Vanderkaay was on the train line...ha ha (front logo mimics the Underground)!

The swimming venue is gorgeous and oozes with excitement.

The Queen was there for Pete's race!

He did not disappoint!

He qualified second in the morning with the drama of a disqualification of a top Korean swimmer. Fortunately for that swimmer, he was reinstated after a video review.  Pete made the medal stand winning the bronze! We were THRILLED, as he has been fourth many times at the World Champs and Beijing 2008!

We are having a great time here and today will visit Peter in the Olympic Village. Security will be an issue and will take time, but worth it!

The Londoners are so upbeat and friendly. That in itself makes this a pleasure!

Thank you to all the emails, text and voicemails we have been receiving. They have been WONDERFUL and so appreciated!

Off to get the tube to the Village......Go TEAM USA!
