Midweek snow storm on schedule

Plan to be shoveling snow on Wednesday

DETROIT – Everything appears on track for our next storm but you have nothing to worry about until Tuesday evening.

Monday night will be mostly clear with some high clouds filtering in late at night. Lows will be around 4, then rising a bit toward dawn.

Right now, both of Tuesday's rush hours should be dry as the snow should hold off until about 7 p.m. and after. Highs Tuesday will be in the mid 20s.

Snow increases Tuesday night and continues into Wednesday before tapering off Wednesday afternoon. This will be an all-snow event, with no rain or ice. Total accumulation right now appears to be 4 to 6 inches south of Interstate 94, 3 to 5 inches between M-59 and I-94 and 2 to 4 inches north of M-59.

Of course, the placement of these snow amounts can shift north or south based upon the storm's exact track but, as of now, this is how it appears to be shaping up. Highs will be in the mid 20s, and it's going to become breezy, as well.

It will be partly cloudy both Thursday and Friday, with highs in the upper teens a great start to the Meridian Winter Blast, so come on downtown and have a blast!

The weekend forecast is still very much up in the air. Our computer models suggest some sort of winter storm taking shape but, as of today, it appears that the main impact will be elsewhere.

There is a chance of snow either Saturday or Sunday and amounts should be relatively light for us, but keep in mind that there are tremendous differences among the computer models.

I'll keep you posted as I get a better handle on things. One thing I can say right now is that highs both days should be in the low 20s.
