More than 140 cats removed from Farmington Hills house

Owner calls Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan, asks for help

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Having one or two cats wouldn't be unusual, but for a woman in Farmington Hills, more than 140 cats became unmanageable.

The cats, which were well-cared for, were removed Thursday by animal rescuers.

From the outside, the house looks like a typical home, but inside it's a bona fid cat house that was filled with 143 cats.

Pictures taken from inside the house show the cats everywhere with dozens sharing beds.

Tamara Murawski, with the Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan, told Local 4 the woman who lives in the house took excellent care of the kitties, and all 143 of them are in tip-top shape.

The owner called the shelter asking for help.

The cats were taken from the home and sent to local shelters. Seventy of them are there waiting for a new place to call home.
