Mother lured into carjacking ambush by man pretending to be injured on Detroit's east side

A Good Samaritan stopping to help a bloodied man on the side of the road was victim to a carjacking Wednesday on Detroit’s east side.

Tasha Smith, a mother of three, was on her way home from work when she saw a man lying in the middle of Nottingham Road at Outer Drive.

“He looked badly injured,” Smith said.

Smith stopped to help, but as she did, three other men ambushed her. One of the men pulled a gun.

“I was just praying he wouldn’t shoot,” Smith said.

The four men, including the man pretending to be injured, jumped into her 2012 Chrysler 200 and drove off. The license plate reads “BHQ 402.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detroit police.
