ROSEVILLE, Mich. - A man is dead and a woman is clinging to life after a motorcycle crash early Tuesday morning in Roseville.

Police said the motorcycle was attempting to exit eastbound I-696 to 11 Mile Road just after midnight when it crashed into overpassing fencing.

The motorcycle's driver, a 36-year-old resident from Warren, died at the scene.

Police said his passenger, a 24-year-old St. Clair Shores woman, is in "extremely grave condition" with head injuries.

Neither of the victims had been wearing a helmet, police said.

Speed is being blamed for causing the motorcyclist to lose control.
