Motorcyclists ride in honor of fallen Michigan State Police Trooper Chad Wolf

TAYLOR, Mich. – Motorcyclists took to the road Saturday for a multi-city memorial ride to pay tribute to fallen Michigan State Police Trooper Chad Wolf.

Wolf was killed while on patrol in August 2015 when he was hit on I-75 by a vehicle pulling a trailer and dragged for miles.

More than 400 motorcyclists participated in the ride, some coming from as far as Flint.

“I’m a motorman and he was a motorman,” Detroit police Officer Juan Windham said. “We've lost some officers, too, so I know what it's like.”

The memorial ride raised money for Thin Blue Line, a nonprofit that helps the families of first responders who are injured or killed.

"We can't believe the support, it's overwhelming," said Kelly Pigeon, of Thin Blue Line Michigan. "Especially in today's time where everything is negative about law enforcement, [it's] nice to see the support."

For the troopers who knew Wolf, he and his family will always be a part of their family.

"The kids are still small so those questions, 'Did you know my dad?' 'Did you work with my dad?'. Hearing that from a little kid, that really hits us hard," MSP Sgt. Stephen Borello said.
