Man charged after fatal shooting of Florida police officer

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A man has been charged with first-degree murder after a shooting Friday night in Kissimmee, Fla. that injured one police officer and killed another.

Authorities in Florida said Everett Miller was arrested several hours after the shootings, The Associated Press reported.

Authorities had said they believed there were four suspects, but Kissimmee Police Chief Jeff O’Dell said no other arrests are anticipated. 

Officer Matthew Baxter was fatally shot and Officer Sam Howard was shot and injured at about 9:30 p.m. in the city that's about 23 miles south of Orlando.

Two other officers were also shot Friday night, one fatally, in Jacksonville.

In Jacksonville, the two officers were shot on the city’s west side at about 11 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office said. The person responsible for the shooting is dead, according to the Sheriff's Office.
