Pedestrians to face fines for texting while crossing streets in Honolulu

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Pedestrians in Honolulu will soon face a fine if they are caught looking at their phone while crossing the street.

Under the "smartphone zombie law," a first offense could result in a $35 fine. Second-time offenders could be fined $35-$75 and third-time offenders could be hit with up to a $100 fine.
