A team of Illinois firefighters are being called heroes after they saved a dog who fell into a frozen lake Monday. The rescue was captured on video.
The footage shows a firefighter head out onto the frozen lake toward the dog, who is almost completely submerged in the icy water. The rescuer ties a harness around the dog and the pair are pulled to shore on a length of rope.

According to WREX, the Harlem-Roscoe Fire Department arrived after the dog had fallen into Legend Lakes in Roscoe, Illinois.
The owner initially tried to reach his dog with a kayak. As the owner was nearing his pet, the ice broke and his kayak flipped over, landing him in the water. Rescuers were able to rescue both the owner and his dog.
Officials say the dog and his owner are okay.
