VIDEO: New Mexico deputy pulls gun on biker in moving traffic

An Albuquerque, New Mexico sheriff's deputy is under fire after he was caught on camera pulling a gun on a motorcyclist on Saturday.

The video shows a law enforcement vehicle driving among a group of bikers. The vehicle pulls up alongside one of the bikers who is popping a wheelie. A deputy inside the vehicle is seen pulling his gun and aiming it at the biker. Upon noticing the gun, the biker speeds away.

According to KOB, deputies are launching a full investigation into the incident.

Bernalillo County officials say around 3:00 p.m. Saturday deputies responded to reports of 50 motorcycles blocking traffic and driving aggressively. They say that the bikers surrounded patrol units and threw gang-related signs in their direction.

Officials say the deputy was in fear of immediate and impending battery from the biker in question.

Representatives from the New Mexico Motorcycle Rights organization say there was no justification for a potentially deadly response and that the deputy was endangering the public and the biker.

Authorities are actively trying to identify the biker in question.
