New video shows vehicles carrying gunmen who shot 3-year-old girl in Detroit

Lamia Ghaleb recovering after being shot in shoulder

DETROIT – Police are hoping 17 seconds of new video will be enough to find the people who opened fire Friday in a Detroit neighborhood and shot a 3-year-old girl.

The girl was playing inside a home when shots came into the house. New video from a home surveillance camera provides a clearer look at the incident than police had before, and they hope someone will recognize the men in the video.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. Friday in Southwest Detroit.

"Everybody was just screaming, and I heard gunshots," Khaled Ghaleb, the victim's uncle, said. "Ten to 15 gunshots."

Police said three cars drove down the 5900 block of Ogden Street with gunmen inside them who opened fire and were then fired upon.

Lamia Ghaleb was inside her grandmother's house with five other children when a bullet struck her in the shoulder.

"I told them I heard some loud noises outside, so everybody just laid down," Khaled Ghaleb said. "I went into the room and she was already bleeding and crying."

Lamia was rushed to the hospital. The gunmen all got away.

Police are asking the public to take a fresh look at the vehicles: a black Cadillac, a silver GMC Yukon and a silver or light-colored Honda.

Police want to talk to any witnesses who were walking in the area at the time of the shooting.

Lamia suffered severe injuries but is expected to recover.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit police.
