DETROIT – The numbers for Wednesday night's $758 million Powerball jackpot -- the second-largest in United States history -- were drawn.

The winning numbers are 07 - 26 - 16 - 23 - 06 - Powerball: 04.

If nobody wins the jackpot with Wednesday night's numbers, Saturday's drawing is expected to be for a $1 billion jackpot. The cash value would be $633.3 million.

6.5 million tickets purchased in Michigan

As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, Michigan players had purchased 6.5 million tickets for Wednesday night's drawing, a Michigan Lottery spokesperson said.

There were 4.3 million tickets purchased Wednesday.

On average, players bought about 290,000 tickets per hour Wednesday.

The number of tickets purchased for this drawing was nearly double the 3.5 million tickets that Michigan players bought for Saturday night’s drawing, when the Powerball jackpot was $535 million.

How does the Powerball drawing work?

Have you ever wondered how and where the drawing happens?

The mechanics of the Powerball happen inside a vault in Tallahassee, Florida. If you look inside the windows, you can see black blankets there, and there are more than four different Powerball machines.

One of the machines is randomly chosen and brought into the television studio. That's where the drawing happens, and with $700 million on the line, many eyes will be on the moment.

"It really is so exciting," Powerball host Laura W. Johnson said. "Really, the energy is palpable."

What happens if something goes wrong?

"There are procedures in place, so if something goes wrong, we kick those procedures right into place," Johnson said. "But we are counting on not having any glitches at all."

How much money would the winner actually take home?

After taxes, how much would the $700 million jackpot really be worth? Watch Steve Garagiola's video below for a breakdown.
