NOVI – Scattered but strong summer storms battered parts of Oakland County Monday night.

Hardest hit was Novi, where trees and power lines came down in high winds.

Several trees toppled in the area of Beck Road and Pontiac Trail.

"Out of nowhere the wind started blowing. I've been in hurricanes overseas and it was like that," said Lt. Dan Kuriluk.

Kuriluk was visiting Novi for a dinner honoring his brother who is getting married this weekend.

When he got home, his front door had blown open.

"Water had poured inside of the house and it was about 10 minutes of rain," said Kuriluk.

Power lines also came down on Pickford Street in Novi.

Along East Lake Road in Walled Lake, trees were down, along with power lines.

Heavy rain was the problem at Woodward and Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Township during the downpour, but quickly drained away.

Local 4 meteorologist Andrew Humphrey predicts more storms Tuesday.

He says there is a change for a more scattered pattern of thunderstorms to develop later in the day or Tuesday evening.

Expect another humid day with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Even if the storms do not become severe, any storms could have torrential rain in them.
