Officers Zap Alleged Serial Stabber

Stun Gun Used On Elias Abuelazam

FLINT, Mich. - A sheriff said jail officers used a stun gun to subdue a man accused of a series of fatal stabbings in Flint.

Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell said Elias Abuelazam tried to punch a sergeant while he was unshackled and outside his cell Wednesday night.

Pickell said five deputies rushed to the area to assist and two were injured. He said Abuelazam's face was swollen but he wasn't seriously injured.

The Israeli citizen is in custody in the deaths of three men who were fatally stabbed in and around Flint last summer. He's charged in five cases of attempted murder.

Abuelazam also is charged with attempted murder in Toledo, Ohio, and is suspected in attacks in Leesburg, Va., where he once lived.
