Airsoft gun-wielding teens terrorize Grosse Pointe Woods students

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, Mich. – Students at two Grosse Pointe Woods schools were terrorized by several teens who police said were shooting an airsoft or paintball gun from a car.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday as students were leaving school for the day.

The first to be targeted were students from Grosse Pointe North High School. Police said the teens then made their way over to Mason Elementary School where they pointed the device at students there, police said.

Grosse Pointe Woods police said four teens were seen driving in the area and were firing an airsoft device or paintball gun from the cars window.

A volunteer parking lot attendant heard the shots and called police, at which point all available officers were dispatched to the area.

Police searched the school and cleared the area, preventing a total lockdown as students left for the day.

“Imagine you’re walking to pick up your kid from school and you see that aiming out the car window coming down the road, yikes,” a concerned said.

No injuries were reported and the Grosse Pointe Woods police chief said these types of devices are not meant to be fired at animals of people.
