Photos show robber stealing from Metro Detroit banks

Investigators say man robbed at least 5 banks in Detroit, Redford

DETROIT - The Defenders have exclusively obtained the images showing a bank robber trying to steal cash from banks in the Metro Detroit area during the holidays.

Surveillance pictures capture a man wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and jeans and carrying a backpack. That backpack was used to load with cash from area banks.

Investigators told the Defenders they believe this robber has hit at least 5 banks in Detroit and Redford since Dec 22.

Investigators believe these crimes are connected because in each case the man either smashes out a window using a brick or finds another way to get in through an unsecured window.

At the PNC bank on Telegraph in Redford, plywood now covers windows that were broken.

The Defenders also spotted a security guard at the scene. This particular bank has been targeted twice in the last few weeks.

Surveillance cameras also catch the man on the inside rifling through cash drawers and working to get into safes. At this point, it's unclear how much cash he's been able to take off with during these break-ins, which all take place in the middle of the night.
