Pizza man shot, robbed on Detroit's east side; cops search for shooter

DETROIT – A pizza delivery man was robbed and shot on the city's east side Friday night, police said.

Detroit police said the 25-year-old man was waiting in the parking lot of Papa's Pizza for his next delivery when a man approached him and entered his vehicle.

The assailant then told the delivery man to drive away, police said. The driver was then robbed and shot by the assailant.

The man made his way to Nikki's Place at the end of the block. An employee told Local 4 News he'd been shot in the stomach and a customer took him to a hospital.

Police believe a getaway car was waiting for the shooter with possibly two other men inside.

Throughout the night, police circled the area and collected forensic evidence from the car and security video from Papa's Pizza and the bar. Police are searching for the shooter in the area of Cadieux Road and Harper Avenue.

The victim was in serious condition Friday night.
