Authorities said the investigation revealed that the photo was forwarded to a friend who admitted to writing the caption and sharing it on his SnapChat Story with the intention of trying to get the school to close Friday. He claims to not have anticipated the photo to circulate as quickly as it did, police said.

Grosse Pointe Woods police have recovered the firearm in question, which is being held by police at this time.
