Police release surveillance video of shooting on Detroit's west side, seek public's assistance

DETROIT – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest after a shooting May 17 on the city’s west side.

According to police, a 40-year-old man was shot around 5:20 a.m. in the area of Woodward Avenue and West Parkhurst Place.

A person in a four-door silver vehicle pulled up, got out of the car and demanded personal items from the victim, police said. When he refused to give up his backpack, he was shot multiple times.

No other injuries were reported.
