CHICAGO – Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that his team will be staying in the locker room during the national anthem before Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, NBC sports reports.

Comments by President Donald Trump that NFL players who don't stand for the national anthem should be fired or suspended drew backlash, as well as support, as Sunday games neared.

Players have been kneeling and linking arms.

Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford responded, condemning the president's words in a statement.
