PONTIAC, Mich. – A community has been left shocked and with unanswered questions after a 12-year-old, who had no known previous medical issues, died in her sleep.
Mourners held candles outside Walton Charter Academy in Pontiac, where 12-year-old Makiya Naylor was a well-known and well-liked cheerleader.
“It just shows me that Mikaya touched a lot of people in such a short amount of time,” Makiya’s mother said. “I’m leaning more and more on my faith.”
Autopsy results are expected in the next 6-8 weeks.
