Power outage forces some Detroit schools to let out early

DETROIT - Due to a Detroit Public Lighting Department power outage, the following schools are on a delayed closure Friday.

Each school will officially close only after all parents have been notified and students have been returned to parents or guardians.

  • Carstens Elementary and Middle School
  • Dixon Educational Learning Academy
  • Hutchinson Elementary and Middle School
  • Golightly Career and Technical Center
  • Davis Aerospace High School

Friday's issues come the same week more than two dozen schools were forced to close early because of a power outage.

Students were let go from classes early at 31 schools, which included three Education Achievement Authority schools. Some traffic lights were also knocked out.
