DETROIT - Police are looking for a man suspected of stealing bags from Detroit Public Schools buildings.

The man has entered schools through the main door saying he is looking for a student who is his relative, Craig Schwartz, DPS police executive deputy chief, told Local 4.

He has asked to use bathrooms so he can wander through the school halls and look for open classrooms. He then snatches purses and puts them into his backpack before leaving the building.

Police say he has used credit cards immediately after stealing them. He is suspected in five of these cases at schools including Noble, Coleman Young, Priest, Bates Academy and Glazer. All thefts happened between Oct. 4 and Oct. 18.
