Man fatally shot at stop light in Detroit

Police searching for van involved in shooting

DETROIT – A man was shot and killed Wednesday morning while sitting in a white van at a stop light on Detroit's east side.

The shooting happened at the corner of Conner and Shoemaker streets near Chandler Park Drive.

Witnesses said they heard at least 8 shots.

Officers collected shell casings from the road. Witnesses reported hearing 6-8 shots, and Local 4 counted at least six shell-casing markers set up by police.

The victim was shot in the neck and was killed. The man who was driving the white van when his passenger was shot is cooperating with police.

No other information was made available. Police originally had said the shooting was related to a road rage incident.
