ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Police are searching for a vehicle and driver that struck and killed a 59-year-old Roseville man on Oct. 27.

Police said the victim was walking across the southbound lanes of Gratiot Avenue, south of Voiland Road, about 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle traveling south on Gratiot. The man was struck on Gratiot Avenue near the Chili's restaurant, police said.

Surveillance video shows emergency crews arriving just minutes after the deadly crash. Officers quickly blocked off Gratiot Avenue near Voiland Road for hours as they worked to figure out who hit the man.

The investigation shows the victim was not using a crosswalk, so if the driver had stopped, he or she would likely not been in as much trouble as they are now for leaving the scene of a deadly crash.

It's unclear if anyone else witnessed the hit-and-run, but based on car parts left behind, investigators said the vehicle involved is a red 2014-2016 Dodge Journey, like the one pictured above. The SUV is missing the driver side mirror and from the impact, it has damage to the left-front fog lamp area.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to contact the police at 586-447-4502 or 586-447-4502.
