School gives 5-year-old the boot for spiked Mohawk

An Ohio mother says her kindergartner was sent home from school last week for sporting a spiked Mohawk.

Keshia Castle said she was told on Wednesday that her 5-year-old son, Ethan Clos, cannot return to Reid Elementary School until he gets rid of his Mohawk.

Castle says the Clark Shawnee School District told her Ethan's hairdo caused a disturbance in the classroom because the teachers couldn't get the attention of the students.

"I'm going to have to take him to go get is shaved. Because obviously he has to go to school. I'm already going to a mediation because he's missed a few days of school."

School Superintendent Gregg Morris said the hairstyle was a distraction for students and violates district rules.

Ethan was able to return to school Monday after his mom shaved his head.
