Semi driver in critical condition after turning truck over

Semi struck two parked vehicles on I-75 right shoulder

Headline Goes Here

MONROE, Mich. - Daniel Lemley, of New Boston, Michigan, is in critical condition after turning over his Freightliner semi on southbound 1-75, south of Summit Street in Erie Township Saturday night.

At about 11 p.m. Lemley was driving southbound in the right lane when he struck two vehicles parked on the right shoulder. The first vehicle was a Star Towing tow truck, which was unoccupied. Robert Bayer, the driver of the tow truck, was assisting a disabled 2004 maroon Mercury Marauder, which had driver Valeria Berry and 15-year old passenger Christal Berry, both of Detroit, inside of it.

Lemley struck both vehicles and lost control of his semi while exiting the freeway to the west. His semi overturned in the deep snow and came to rest on its left side.

Lemley was transported to UTMC Hospital in Toledo, Ohio, by Life Flight. He is listed in critical condition. Lemley was alone in the semi, and there were no other injuries in the incident. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7768.
