Shady Oak Park business raises concerns about potential sex trafficking operation

Man rented space for physical therapy, allegedly sought women for sex work

OAK PARK, Mich. – A sex trafficking watchdog group has concerns about a new business that attempted to open in Oak Park.

Greenfield Plaza owner Fadi Khalife was shocked to see a new tenant alter the building’s security camera from pointing at his new office’s door. His lease stated that he needed the office space for a physical therapy business, but after the papers were signed, he immediately started blanketing the area with fliers.

“Ladies earn 100’s daily for jobs like sexy secretary, office assistant, exotic dancers, massages, escorts and more!” the fliers said. “Please do not call with a lot of silly questions you know that this is adult entertainment!”

“I’ve seen it. I looked at it,” said community watchdog group It Starts With Us representative Mickey Robinson. “It’s sex trafficking.”

While the fliers aren't illegal, Robinson and his group look for potential risks and threats that could lead to sex trafficking.

Young women started showing up at the man’s office-- with no signs of physical therapy anywhere to be found. Robinson believes this is how trafficking starts.

Khalife has evicted him from the building and alerted the local and state police about the man and his suspicious behavior.
