The intruder allegedly pistol-whipped the woman twice, knocking her unconscious.

From the Sheriff's Office:

She indicated that she was in the upstairs portion of the home when she heard the front door of the home being kicked in. She confronted the suspect whom she identified as black male, 20-30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches and having a medium build. She described his clothing as a black Carhartt style coat and black work boots.

The victim reported that the suspect was holding a handgun when she confronted him near the home’s stairway. She said she was struck at least two times in the head with this handgun and was rendered unconscious. When she awoke she noticed that her cellphone was smashed and she drove herself to her parent’s home in the city of Eastpointe. She was then transported to St. John’s Hospital in Detroit for treatment.

The victim’s father returned to the Clinton River address and called the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded and an investigation ensued.
