WHITE LAKE, Mich. - Not everybody in Metro Detroit is annoyed by the shoveling or messy driving caused by the first major dose of snow.

Local 4's Jason Colthorp hit the slopes at Alpine Valley to find out how much of a boost the weather is.

A group of girls was at Alpine Valley to enjoy the snow even though they have to leave early for school in the morning.

The folks at Alpine Valley were excited too, because it's a good start to the season for the ski mountain.

Even the pro shop Shumakers was busy Monday night with everyone excited to get out on the slopes early this year.

The best thing about the cold temperatures for skiers is that the base isn't going anywhere, so they'll be out until 10 p.m.
