SUV crashes into Detroit man's home

64-year-old homeowner not hurt in incident on Trowbridge

DETROIT – A Detroit homeowner found an SUV parked in his kitchen early Saturday morning.

John Johnson, 64, said it was around 1 a.m. when a GMC Yukon crashed into his home on Trowbridge Street near Oakland Street.

"I heard this sound like somebody hit something but it didn't seem like it was the house," he told Local 4.

The SUV had driven off Caniff Street through a field, in between two trees and right into Johnson's home.

It took out Johnson's back porch before stopping in the kitchen.

"I would have been in a world of trouble if I had been there," Johnson said. "It is a field there and to do this kind of damage he had to been going pretty fast."

The crash remains under investigation and police haven't said if the driver will be charged.
