Thieves dressed as delivery workers stealing Huron Township packages?

Huron Township police receive complaints from Foxhollow Run neighborhood

HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Crooks following delivery trucks and stealing packages from people's front steps happens a lot around this time of year, but some thieves in Huron Township are taking it a step further.

It appears that the thieves are disguising themselves as delivery workers.

"I'm kind of worried if they're that brave to do that, will they jiggle the door and maybe come into my home?" asked Anna Daniels, who had her packages stolen.

"Somebody's definitely stealing people's packages and people's Christmas gifts, " Police Chief Everette Robbins said.

Police said two grinches in a Penske truck are trying to steal Christmas.

"Their doorbell was rung, and nine minutes later they came to the door, and they saw the Penske truck and they had no packages," Robbins said.

Huron Township police said they've received several calls from a Fox Hollow Run neighborhood.

"We can't rule out these are legitimate delivery people who are just ringing your doorbell to see if you're home at the time," said Robbins.

Daniels has spotted the Penske truck on her street.

"I never would've connected that," said Daniels.

The thieves got away with her QVC Christmas order.

"They showed that it was shipped out, but they went ahead and reimbursed me for it," Daniels said.

Police are looking for the two men in the Penske truck. Detectives are trying to figure out if the men are legitimate delivery drivers who are up to no good, or whether they are thieves pretending to be delivery drivers and getting away with gifts.

"We contacted UPS and they are renting trucks to assist them in the holiday season with deliveries, but people should look for the drivers to be in a UPS uniform. The truck should have a UPS placard," said Robbins.
