Tires, rims stolen from Macomb driveway

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft of wheels and tires in Macomb Township.

Dale Burke found both of his vehicles had been hit by thieves overnight– all eight wheels and tires.

“Both cars were up on blocks,” Burke said. “It would have been bad with just one vehicle and then we've got cars in the garage we couldn't get out."

The Macomb County Sheriff says wheel and tire theft is a big concern and they’re seeing more throughout the county, especially in Macomb and Harrison townships.

Wheel locks are available which require a key to remove the lug nuts.

The sheriff said to be vigilant, watch for suspicious vehicles passing by several times. Thieves are usually using large vehicles like pickup trucks or rented moving trucks.

The best advice is to keep vehicles in the garage.
