Toledo sinkhole swallows car

Sinkhole swallows car at N. Detroit Avenue, W. Bancroft Street in Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – A large sinkhole in the middle of a road swallowed a car Wednesday in Toledo.

The sinkhole is at North Detroit Avenue and West Bancroft Street. The car was getting dumped on by water flowing out of a main under the road.

According to the Toledo Blade, the cause of the sinkhole may be a water main break.

The driver of the car climbed out of the hole about 12:30 p.m., according to the Blade's report.

She suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to published reports.

Toledo Fire and Rescue snapped photos of the woman in the car while it was in the sinkhole and of a firefighter helping her up a ladder to get out of the hole.
