Troy High School students come together to help teacher with incurable disease

Theresa Martin has condition called mast cell activation syndrome

TROY, Mich. – Everyone has at least one memorable teacher from high school who taught students a lesson they'll never forget. At Troy High School, students are returning the favor and helping a teacher get through some tough times.

Theresa Martin has a condition called mast cell activation syndrome, and students are coming together to raise awareness about the condition, which most people haven't heard of.

The disease is incurable and chronic. It makes Martin allergic to everything.

Extensive required medical treatment makes the condition expensive, and the students are trying to help. They aren't doing it for a grade, extra credit or community service points, but to help their teacher.

Anyone who would like to donate or help in the cause should call Troy High School at 248-823-2700.
