Patrick Mikes Sr. was reported missing July 29 by his sons, who said the father had left their home two days earlier for a bike ride and never returned home.

His body and his bike were found two days later in Genesee County's Montrose Township.

Patrick Mikes Jr. is charged with open murder. Prosecutors have said they have evidence taken from the family's home that suggest the father was violently beaten to death in his basement.

Medical examiner says evidence was 'saturated' with blood

Earlier this month Oakland County Medical Examiner L.J. Dragovic testified in Mike Jr.'s preliminary exam that he was called by police to review evidence found in the Mikes' home and said he was shown sweatpants, T-shirts, jeans and other garments "saturated" with blood.

"It was clear based on the appearance that a violent death took place and major injuries were sustained by someone was the victim," Dragovic said.
