A judge also ordered a request his defense lawyer to suppress evidence found while searching the Mikes home.

Evidence included bloody clothing, a sleeping bag and bedding.

Patrick Mikes Sr. was reported missing July 29 by his sons, who said the father had left their home two days earlier for a bike ride and never returned home.

His body and his bike were found two days later in Genesee County's Montrose Township.

Patrick Mikes Jr. is charged with open murder. Prosecutors have said they have evidence taken from the family's home that suggest the father was violently beaten to death in his basement.

Medical examiner says evidence was 'saturated' with blood

Oakland County Medical Examiner L.J. Dragovic testified that he was called by police to review evidence found in the Mikes' home and said he was shown sweatpants, T-shirts, jeans and other garments "saturated" with blood.

"It was clear based on the appearance that a violent death took place and major injuries were sustained by someone was the victim," Dragovic said.

He also testified about a piece of skin that was found with gray hair on it.

"Attempts to conceal a crime are pretty obvious," Dragovic said.

Suspect's brother takes the stand

Andrew Mikes, 16, was asked about his father's biking habits. He said his father didn't usually go out at night and saved long rides for the weekend. He said the morning after his father didn't come home, he and his brother called area hospitals and other places to try to find him.

"We weren't really sure what to do," Andrew Mikes said.

He said his older brother suggested they wait 24 hours before calling police. They made that phone call Sunday morning.

When he was asked how be felt about this dad, Andrew Mikes said, "I loved him."
