ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A University of Michigan student has reported being sexually assaulted by a cab driver early Sunday morning.

Campus police said the student told them she hailed a cab in the 1200 block of South University to her off-campus apartment, but the driver pulled off into a parking lot and assaulted her.

A crime alert was emailed to the campus community.

"I received the email and this is just ridiculous," said student Priya Koollipera. "You're suppose to be able to trust cab driver, now I'm worried."

Police said they are reviewing surveillance video from the area. They are also asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at about 2 a.m. in the area of Madison and Packard to contact them.

"You're just trying to be safe and do the right thing by taking a cab," said student Jessica Chang. "Now we won't want to send our friends home in a cab, unless someone's with them."
