VIDEO: 2 teens in custody after carjacking at gas station on Detroit's west side

DETROIT – Two teens were arrested last week after a carjacking on Detroit’s west side and police say they’re responsible for multiple thefts.

Video surveillance shows the carjacking June 2 at about 12:30 a.m. at the Citgo gas station at Schoolcraft and Greenfield roads.

A 28-year-old woman was pumping gas when a 16-year-old man approaches. It appears he brandishes a weapon and drives off in her car.

The Detroit Police Department’s Commercial Auto Theft looked at the Green Light video surveillance and went to the area. They found the vehicle and waited until the carjacker returned to the car.

Two boys came back to the car and were taken into custody.

The 16-year-old is expected to be charged with three carjackings and a 17-year-old is expected to be charged with a felony gun crime.
