Video: Men smash glass, steal Cartier watches from Somerset Saks

Police search for 5 suspects

TROY, Mich. – Troy police are looking for five suspects involved in a smash and grab of a Cartier watch display case on Friday.

Six watches were taken at 5:51 p.m. when four black men, all about 22 years old, entered the store. Police released a video that shows two of the suspects entering the store inside Saks Fifth Avenue in Somerset Mall at 2901 W. Big Beaver Road and breaking into the display case.

The video shows the two men looking at the watches inside the display before one of them, about 6 feet 4 inches and 300 pounds, pulled a small sledge hammer out of his sweatshirt and smashed the top of the case. A second suspect, about 5 feet 5 inches and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, took seven Cartier watches out of the case.

Both suspects fled the story and one watch was dropped. The other two suspects in the store fled with the men to the west side of Saks.

All four suspects got in an older gray Ford Taurus driven by a black woman. The car left the lot.

Troy police would like anyone with information on the suspects to call 248-524-0777.
