Warren 'peeping tom' flasher targets 88-year-old great grandmother

WARREN, Mich. - When Warren police responded to an indecent exposure report Wednesday morning at the Londonderry Downs Condominiums, they weren't expecting the victim to be an 88-year-old great grandmother.

This great grandmother wants to remain anonymous, but decided to share her story with Local 4 for one reason: "I don't want this to happen to anyone else, it's too disturbing."

The 88-year-old woman woke up early to make homemade cream puffs for the upcoming Easter holiday. Unfortunately, her morning ended with a phone call to 911 after the unwanted guest showed up at her window.

"I had the blinds open, they are the ones that go across then I heard a knock at my window," she said.

Thinking it was one of her sons, she went to the door.

"I almost opened the door, but then he was just standing their smiling and started to mess around with himself," she told Local 4. "Once I realized what he was doing, I closed the blinds."

Warren police say this isn't the first time they've have problems with a "peeping tom." At a different apartment complex just a few yards away on Imperial St., another incident report was taken March 26.

Police did make an arrest in that case, but detectives say they have reason to believe the two similar incidents are connected. It's a connection the 88-year-old's daughter-in-law hopes will help police quickly resolve the case.

"There are kids and families and obviously elderly who live in this area," Donna Little said. "I'm worried that my mother wouldn't be able to fight someone off like that. He didn't try to come into the apartment, but he could have. It's just disgusting."

"I still feel sickish, I do," said the 88-year-old.

Police say the victim was so frightened that she was unable to give them a description of the suspect.
