WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – 
Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano has let contracts lapse for two of his personal drivers.
June West, a spokeswoman for Ficano, says they drivers are law enforcement officers who had served Ficano in the Guardian Building and provided security for events.

"There is no time table to say when they will be replaced but I can tell you it won't be very long. Security is a significant issue. He is a top elected official in county," said West.
Ficano has been under criticism for his choice in drivers after making sweeping budget cuts to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
The man Ficano wanted on the job was a retired sheriff's deputy who already had a pension. He could make an extra $55,000 a year protecting Ficano. Some including the county commissioners questioned the decision.

Facing across-the-board cuts, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said the layoffs in her office and their effects on the public's safety is something that makes every day like "triage."
"I just don't have the people ... I can't clone people," Worthy said during a March press conference. "Every day is like triage, trying to figure out which is more important."

Worthy said she isn't in a "feud" or "dispute" with County Executive Robert Ficano, but said she doesn't understand where his numbers are coming from. She said she's even filed FOIA requests to find out where the numbers are coming from and how they are calculated.
Worthy's chief of staff, Donn Fresard, took the stand on March 27, at a hearing over a request for legal action by Worthy to stop the cuts.
Fresard said the budget cuts imposed by Ficano has the office down by dozens of necessary lawyers. MORE: Wayne County prosecutor wants legal action to halt cuts
