Weapons, cash removed from Roseville auto shop during drug bust

Detroit Car Guys auto shop raided for prescription pills

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Macomb County sheriff's deputies and Roseville police officers raided the Detroit Car Guys auto lot on Utica and 12 Mile roads, searching for prescription pills.

Residents who live nearby and police sources said a person who worked at the lot was dealing opioids out of the business. The dealings allegedly included OxyContin, Vicodin, Suboxone and other highly addictive prescription medications.

Undercover officers could be seen hauling out weapons and cash as well.

At the same time, the special agent in charge of Detroit's FBI field office was addressing the opioid epidemic at a symposium at Wayne State University.

"It's absolutely a national issue," David Gelios said. "It's a growing epidemic, I think, around the country, and it's significantly a problem here in Michigan."

Gelios said Michigan ranks in the top 10-15 nationally for opioid deaths.

How do prescription pills that should be hard to come by end up on an auto lot in Roseville? Police said it might be linked to do doctors who knowingly over prescribe the pills.
